Morning in Las Vegas

What a nice day. Made even nicer by the fact I still have money in my wallet. Was runner-up in the Caesar's Palace $110 buy-in poker tournament last night. Paid around $800. It was the first time I've ever played a tournament all the way to the end. Got rivered on the last hand, too.

Vegas!!!

Well, here I am in my room at Terribles in Las Vegas. Not too bad, especially for $34/night. Just as nice as any I've stayed at for 3x the price. 2 queen beds instead of one king, but I guess I can live with that. I'm out of here, gonna go see what I can get into.

Made it to Denver!

In my hotel room in Denver now. It's more like an efficiency apartment, really. Full-size fridge, 4-burner mini-stove, dishwasher, pots and pans. A little more about the Old Chicago I ate lunch at earlier. I had my 55th beer on the World Tour with my lunch today, with which I was supposed to get a t-shirt. All they had was 3XXXL. When asked for a raincheck of some kind, they told me that they were independent franchises and I could ask at another location, but they didn't have to do anything for me. Horrible service, no real bartender, mediocre food. I can't believe they let them put the Old Chicago name on that place.

My thoughts on Nebraska...

Wow. What shitty place. Everyone know there's no scenery here. It goes way farther than that. People drive 15mph under the speed limit in the left lane on the Interstate. I haven't driven more than 25 miles without coming across road construction. The speed limit is 75, but good luck maintaining that for more than mile at a time between the shitty drivers and the road work. To top it off, there isn't a single friendly employee at the Old Chicago resturant where I'm having lunch right now. Only about 150 miles and I'm out of this God-forsaken state.

The night before...

Well, I'm pretty sure I have everything ready to go. Just have to load the car in the morning and hit the road. Don't know if I'll be able to get any sleep tonight. Hope so, with 11-12 hours on the road tomorrow. Plan on stopping in Lincoln, NE for lunch. Time to try to hit the sack.

By the way, I will be posting all my pictures that I take here if I can figure out the best way to get them from my phone and/or camera to here. Should have plenty of time in the hotel rooms to figure it out. So far this isn't a very interesting blog, but I'm still in Iowa.

The Day Before the Trip

Well, it's almost 1 a.m. on Tuesday, October 18. My plan is to be on the road by 7 Wednesday morning. I still have to pack everything, but that shouldn't take too long. I've purchased a 1998 Cadillac DeVille D'Elegance for the trip. New tires were installed on the front today. I hope to be in Denver before 8 tomorrow night.
